QSIDNFEJNVKUDNER!

AAHHHHHH! why WHY do some games have to be so frustrating. I am currently playing Alien Hominid HD on my newly recoverd 360. It should be called You Die A Lot And The Bosses Are Cheap As Shit HD. Seriously, some games are hard, and I can respect hard games, the ones that really challange you, but this is just pissing me the fuck off. Mario Hoops does this to me too. Makes me want to break my DS in half. Oh, and last night I spent two hours trying to get the third bottle in Majors Mask... I had to swim through rings underwater. TWO HOURS!

Frustrating games seem to be attracted to me. I would turn off the Alien Hominid but it doesn't save your progress like EVERY OTHER GAME SINCE 1999, so when i quit out i'll have to start over again. I have a feeling if I turn it off I won't ever finish it. And I must complete this game.

I really like this game too. It has fulfilled my need for a modern scroller but it is more than likley that I will be minus one 360 controller in the morning. I really liked Mario Hoops too, and I recomend it to alot of people... its just so frustrating.

ugh... back to russia to get my space ship back.

[update: GameSpot reports a bug that doesn't allow some people to save. woo hoo luckey me.]

And So It Ends

Yesterday I recieved my Xbox360 in the mail. Well... it actually wasn't my Xbox even though their new policy said it would be. I was sent another Xbox. Presumeably a new one, but more than likley one that Microsoft took in and fixed up. It also had a faceplate on it already so now I have an extra one.

Well I hooked it up today and everything seems to work fine. I am going to try some games that made it freeze last time. But thats the boring part. The unboring part is paperwork that Microsoft sent to me. Three pieces of paper. One telling me how to connect the controller to the Xbox. One telling me that this is a replacement unit. And one thats a survey of my experience with them... oh and one month free of Live. Click the images to get them full size in a new window.

My favorite part of the letter is the fake yellow highlighter that reads "It is our goal to provide you with the best gaming and entertainment experience possible, and hope to regain your trust, satisfaction and loyalty." Priceless. Oh and the back is the same thing in spanish... hence the ghosting.

Kids Today

I just gave a 7 year old who I don't know a stack of PS1 games that i havent played in close to 10 years. He was
so happy he was actually jumping up and down. It's really nice to see kids excited about video games.

I noticed (as i was going through them) that the rating on
them were K-A. The old Kids to Adults that was replaced by the E for Everyone. Just some history, and somethin that made me smile.

Oh and I got my 360 back. but more on that tomorrow.

[Editors Note:this has been an adventure in using tables. i am very out of practice. oh, and blogger won't let me get rid of that giant space between the title and my first sentence... grrr]

And So It Begins

Last week my Xbox 360 decided it didn’t like playing games any more. In fact it decided that it liked freezing a lot more than doing anything else. My 360 actually had a pretty long history of freezing as I know it happened on at least five different games.

Last week was the worst though; freezing three times in two different games in under 20 minutes. It was time. I called Microsoft once before to report it and they cleared out my memory. That didn’t work this time. And so they said it was time to send it to Texas.

Luckily Microsoft has recently changed their return policy for the better so I didn’t pay for shipping and they sent me a fantastic box. A box I received today. It had really nice packing material foam and a bag for my 360 and all sorts of neat stuff. Click the pics for larger view...

It also had these fantastic instructions for everything I had to do. It will go out tomorrow. Off to Texas where someone will open her up and gut her. Poor thing. She’s too young to undergo this alone.

For those of you who haven’t had problems with your 360, good luck. And keep on playing. Unfortunately this seems all too common. Epically when you hear about people being on their seventh Xbox. At least with this new policy I will be getting my Xbox back, and not another unit that may have other problems with it.
