The Wii Is a Party System... My Foot.

I have successfully converted both of my roomates into X-boxers. The three of us living in my new apartment run the gamet of gaming classifications, from "teh hardcorez" (me), Casual / Wii owner (Matt) to somone who really doesnt play games all that often, aside from his Sega Genesis (Bryan)

In the course of 24 hours Bryan and Matt have signed up for Xbox live, each purchasing Live cards and headsets. Both started by watching me play, and then joining in as guests, with the rest of our friends. My nice 32 inch TV is now cramped with the three of us on one screen playing Halo multi.

This kind of stuff just didnt happen with the Wii that has been in this apartment since launch day. We never huddled around the TV to play Wario Ware, or Rayman. I was here all the time, before I moved in, and the idea of playing games together was something that just never came to pass. Live changes that. Being able to talk to and play with 5 other friends of ours is just like hanging out, except we're spread out across a few states. Bryan admits thats all he really wanted out of it; a feeling of comunity. He's not going to buy any games for the Xbox, or play any that dont include the 8 + of us that get on every night.

So for all the hubub about the Wii being the best party system, and the system for the casuel gamer, that can all go to hell.
