Protecting BitTorrents for Future Generations

I saw the greatest campaign ad today. It ran something like this: “Reelect Mr. X for the Energy Commission because he’s saved millions of dollars on electricity for you, yadi yadi yadi, and he kept the blackout from reaching Georgia in 2003.” You know, the one that blacked out New York but didn’t spread further south than Pennsylvania? I hate politicians. I’m sure that most of you do as well, which is why you should get out and vote tomorrow. Get rid of the old ones, see if some new ones can do any better. (What can I say, I’m an optimist.)

Especially these guys: George Allen (VA), Conrad Burns (MT)…ok, the list was really long and I didn’t feel like typing it. You can check out the rest of them here. What do these guys have in common? They’re all against net neutrality. Yeah, I bet you were thinking the elections had nothing to do with you, weren’t you? But losing our freedom of the internet is a very real danger. I think everyone’s favorite masked angel of death can explain it better than I can:

I don't know about you, but I am all about the lemonade. So yeah, contrary to popular opinion, your vote does count. Check out savetheinternet.com. They have really easy ways to write to your representative, senator, and the FCC. And you'll see that Congress has started listening to us. But we’re not in the clear yet. So do you want to keep reading obscure web comics? Or downloading bittorrents? Do you really think a megemedia conglomerate will allow illegal downloading sites to register with them? Or how about that new Furry Fran slash you’ve been writing? If you want to post it, get out there and let ‘em know how you feel before all the sites are inacessible.

Sorry to be preachy! I promise to talk about the jub jubs of Xtreme Volleyball (those things seriously freak me out) or some equally frivolous topic next time.

And on a side note: Jack Thompson might be going to jail! How awesome is that?!
