Here are the promised pictures from the day of the PS3 launch. They're only 2 days late... and thats less days late than the PS3! ZING! ... get it.. because it was delayed... from March... oh nevermind... on with the pictures.
This is the ring of tents where games were going to be played. We had broken down the walls the night before because of the wind and rain. On the left you can see the white tent... that was where they were supposed to be showing movies.
Some of the plastic banners that were hung in each tent. Each tent had a specific banner for its game. This one is Madden. But there was also Tony Hawk, Resistance, NBA Live, Marvel Ultimate Alliance i think, and a few more. They are about 10 feet high. We threw out all of them.
Clearly my skills with a disposable camera need work. This out of focus shot is the claim table. Where they checked their ID's with the dogtags and the Polaroid. After they were cleared they were let in a side entrance, presumably right to the PS3's... I cant verrify as they were not letting anyone near there... notice the fence.
The guitar hero stage... that would have been awesome... Also on the left is the registration tent where they handed out dogtags and got peoples information.
This is what the dogtags look like. Nice large target in the center. Below it, you can bearly see it, but there is a number engraved into it.
This guy was too affriad to take his PS3 out of the bag. But he agreed to hold his bag up. I guess he didnt want to get robbed.
Oh SWAG! There it is. My prize. 2 games I can't play, a movie I can't watch, two hats, and a teeshirt i'll probably never wear. Life as a journalist certainly is good.
